12 ETFE TRANSIT WIRE (MEDIUM WALL)
500-3 Type G-GC Portable Power and Mining Cable
500-3 type G-GC cable is known to be water, oil and chemical resistant thanks to the materials making it up. It has a conductor, insulation and jacket. The conductor is made of fully annealed stranded bare copper, the insulation is EPDM and the jacket is CPE. The cable is available at a minimum length of 10 FT and a maximum length of 1000 FT in black, the cable is flexible and easily bends and cuts as per the needs of the user. The 600 volts cable weighs only 7921 Lbs per 1000 feet allowing one to carry it easily from one point to another during installation and termination. The cable complies with several international specifications and bodies such as UL, RoHS, MSHA and CSA.
Key features of the 500-3 type G-GC portable power and mining cable
Conductor
This is a multi- conductor cable with 3 conductors. All the three are constructed with fully annealed stranded bare copper. Stranding and annealing is an important process the copper is taken through to make it soft and flexible. A rigid cable is difficult to deal with and thus the annealing makes it easier to install and terminate.
Copper stranding is made in line with the ASTM B 174 standard that stipulates how cable stranding should be placed. All the three conductors of the 500-3 type G-GC cable are colored differently to easily point them out during installations. The conductor can carry up to 600 volts of electric current at 433 amps and thus ideal for heavy duty power transmission. The cable is versatile as the conductor size ranges between 8 AWG to 500 MCM.
Insulation
The insulation of the 500-3 type G-GC cable is made of premium grade Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) and it comes right after the conductor. Its sole purpose is to protect the conductor from all manner of impacts and damages. The EPDM, a synthetic rubber, has outstanding properties such as the ability to be resistant to oil, water, UV rays, sunlight, alkalis and chemicals. The Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer not only safe guards the conductor but protects also the end user from being electrocuted and also from short circuiting.
Jacket
The jacket of this versatile cable is black for easy identification. Made with a Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE), it has been formulated to operate in both wet and dry locations for continuous exposure. The jacket protects both the conductor and the insulation from physical and chemical damages. It is resistant to oil, water, sunlight, UV rays, abrasion, alkalis and acids. This enables the cable to perform even in the harshest of environments without deteriorating or having its performance affected.
As the environments in which the cable operates in is rough, the jacket of the 500-3 type G-GC cable paired up with the Ethylene propylene (EPDM) insulation protect the cable from all manner of impacts. The surface of the CPE jacket is flexible but sturdy enough to withstand any form of roughness. This is huge factor in ensuring the cable performs without interference for a long period of time.
Industrial Approvals and certifications
The 500-3 type G-GC portable power and mining cable has been constructed in line with international standards for the sake of safety. This cable has been approved by the following international bodies;
Applications
The portable cord is rated 600 volts hence very appropriate for heavy duty power transmission. Because it is oil and water resistant the cable is used in marine applications. The portable power cord is used for marinas, oil drilling platforms, shipyards and portable power generation equipments. It is also used in the mining and mineral processing plants.
